Abstract

This Thesis Project, like Gaul in the beginning of Caesar's Gallic Wars, is divided into three parts. The first part is this: a pseudo-conference paper as one would write for a year-long seminar, a justification and explanation of the project. The second part takes up a majority of the following pages: “who can tolerate the power of a woman:” A Chronological Anthology of the American Feminist Poetry Movement from 1963-1989. The third part, in true Sarah Lawrence fashion, is a creative project: a chapbook of my own work, lilac on the damned’s breath, inspired by the feminist poets I spent months anthologizing. This thesis project captures why I’ve loved Sarah Lawrence; it has allowed me to be truly interdisciplinary.
